I understand that the hotel is new but the service was poor. I reserved one room and my grandmother got a room next to mine. My grandmother had bugs in the corner of the ceiling which she believed to be bed bugs and informed the staff who said "no, the room is fine. It is just lady bugs." At checkout, the staff assumed that my grandmother had not paid the bill. Although, we had taken care of everything upfront. She went back into to receive a receipt and they ask for her card again and gave a receipt.
We will never stay here again nor recommend to anyone.
This place is best geared toward middle school aged kids whose parents want a cheap place to stay for the night. Back to the other Hilton chains I go!
Update: Turns out they did charge my Grandmother TWICE for the room.
Tru is certainly a unique hotel experience. It has it's own style, which I really enjoyed. I would have given 5 stars if the room had a coffee pot and a microwave.
As a Hilton property user, this was my first time staying in the new "Tru" line of hotels. It will definitely be my last! Give me an Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, even Hampton Inn over this particular chain.
Later in the day, we realize that my card was charged for her room without notifying me at all. I call to speak with a manager who has yet to return my call. Thankfully, we have not seen a charge on my grandmother's account (which they swiped at check in and check out). So I had to straighten it out with my grandmother instead.
Breakfast is basic. Even Hampton Inn has this place beat.
My grandmother is 87 years old and was accused of skipping out on the bill and is still confused about what happened.
The worst part of my stay was that my room was on the first floor (by choice); however, there was a flood light outside that shone directly into my hotel room. So when it was time for bed, there was a bright light illuminating around my window. Which, by the way, on my first night I couldn't close the blinds all the way. A manager came in to my room and essentially broke the chain to ensure the blinds could close. It was never fixed during my 4 day stay so I couldn't raise the blind to get sunshine.
The rooms are so minimalist. No closet, no microwave, no dressers. You get to store everything on 8-inch planks. Same goes for the bathroom. Just the sink top or planks. All toiletries are in squeeze bottles.
Nice modern hotel. Complimentary breakfast was definitely lacking compared to other hotels of this value. Lesser chain hotels have more breakfast. Only yogurt, bagels, donuts, pastries, cereal, juice and coffee. Rooms were large but a lot of empty space. Beds we're comfortable. Ceilings are paper thin. Had a family check in above us around 11pm and the kids above sounded like they were playing basketball. Newly built hotel but seemed like it was rushed. There was an outlet in the bathroom where the cover needed to be cutout due to the location of a shelf above it. That seemed like something lesser quality hotels would do but not Hilton. Some small holes in the bathroom wall and the hotel is only 3 months old. Not likely to stay again mainly due to the breakfast. Nice concession stand with local craft beers, wines, local hot sauces, and the normal snacks. Overall a decent hotel.
We loved our visit with Tru. Getting the room key sent digitally was awesome! Easy access to the hotel too. We will definitely have to stay here again. The staff was exceptionally friendly too. We enjoyed our hot breakfast which included waffles ,donuts and more!
